So, we finally did it. After years of wanting. Months of planning. Weeks of discussing, and days of shopping, and debating and hours on the phone. We…bought…a…CAMPER! I am so excited! I have always wanted a camper.
So let me go all the way back and tell you story. As a child some of my fondest memories are of my family camping. And we did it a whole of 10 times, maybe. I could never get my parents to go. Every time I asked if we could they would always respond with the same question, “Why would we go somewhere to camp when we live on a lake?” I hated that answer. So my one chance every year was when my dad’s family would all meet up a few miles away, typically at White River Campground, to have the Crawford Family Reunion. It only lasted from a Friday to a Monday, early August, but to a boy in Twin Lake, this was better than Christmas. At least we had an old pup-up camper to use back then.
So then when Ben wanted a new vehicle I had one condition. I wanted a camper someday. I wanted to be able to the do the things I never could do as a child. I finally had a job, and my own income, and no parents to tell me no! It was liberating. So when we found his SUV we made sure it would be able to meet this potential future need (yes, need).
Fast forward to last week. We meet up with my family for Grace’s last soccer game. Her team won by the way and came in 3rd over all in her division (GO GRACIE!). And in our down time between her game and her birthday dinner we decided it was time to start shopping. We already knew what we wanted so it was relatively easy and there are few retailers in the state that sell the brand we wanted. So a quick stop at All Season’s RV, a stroll through the lot, a meeting with a sales associate, a couple days to think, a few phone calls to the credit union, a few hours on the phone, a few faxes back and forth, some emails, a few road trips to the bank, and now…a new camper will be ours next Monday.
I’ll post some photos below from the manufacturer’s website, but this camper is awesome. Here are some highlights: seamless fiberglass roof to prevent leaks, LED lights for efficiency, 3-way fridge, low weight and aero dynamic shape for increased fuel efficiency when towing, environmentally built, power slide out, black tank flush system, R-Dome screened room, convection microwave, Dolby Digital AM/FM/CD/DVD/TV combo sound system and sleeping quarter slide out, sleeps 6 adults and yet is only 18 feet long.
Visit the website here, the model is the R Pod 176T.
